GED- Adult Education Program combines traditional academic and
vocational instruction with a holistic resource management curriculum
where spiritual development is a key focus. Before a student takes the
GED course they first go through the foundation course.
The FOUNDATION COURSE* is a six
week course on the spiritual, emotional, and economic barriers to
success in school, work, and life. Upon completion, students are better
prepared to succeed in the GED program.

Have you ever needed to find answers about a local service or resource and not known where or how to find them? If your answer is yes, you are not alone. Many people have found themselves in that same predicament. Unfortunately, what you don't know can hurt you. For that reason, Proverbs 4:7 advises people to "get understanding." Basically, that's the inspiration for this forum. The Birmingham Community Hub has been created to help people find legitimate answers in a busy, fast-paced world. In a world where people are often bombarded with excess, this hub will hopefully allow it's users to trim the fat frequently associated with surfing the net and get right to the heart of matters with little distraction about fashion, gossip, or entertainment. Prayerfully, this will be an interactive forum where users can locate and exchange info in a faith-filled inspirational environment.
If you attend an event, patronize an organization or secure employment with a company that you read about on
Birmingham Community Hub
PLEASE LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU HEARD ABOUT THEM HERE!

GED Prep
M-Power Ministries
The GED program is a 12-week course offered twice annually, enrolling up to 30 students. Students must meet certain baseline academic requirements. Classes
include writing, social studies, math, science, personal development, computer skills, budgeting, and goal setting. GED Course objectives include
developing the skills necessary to succeed in an academic environment, improving academic abilities, implementing a personalized GED study plan, and
developing a post-GED transition plan. Students who complete the GED Course are better prepared to either take the GED or enter into a self-directed GED
study. Time spent with M-POWER instructors builds confidence and self-advocacy skills.
With changes in the GED test, effective January 2014, M-POWER is in the process of updating curriculum and making sure our students are prepared for a more
difficult and costly test. In 2014, the GED will cost $150, as opposed to $50, will be completely electronic, and will require students to pass all five
sections at one time. In the past, students have been able to retake sections where they failed. These changes create a greater fear of failure, which
makes the work of M‑POWER even more important, as our holistic approach to education fosters growth in self-confidence and self-advocacy.
